From Industry to Classroom:

Sharing the Art of Animation and Visual Effects

I have been teaching and lecturing daily at Westerdals Department of Film and Media for the past decade, focusing primarily on Animation, Storytelling and Visual Effects (VFX).

Behind the Scenes of Rescue (2019): A production created in collaboration with students from several study programs at Westerdals.

Since its inception in 2016, the Bachelor of Visual Effects program at Westerdals has nurtured a new generation of VFX talent. I developed and launched this program, and together with my colleague Morten Moen, we have strengthened and evolved it into a recognized leader in Visual Effects education.

As the Head of the Visual Effects Bachelor Program from 2015 to 2022, I ensured the academic integrity and overall development of the program. In 2020, the BA in Visual Effects was ranked as the 12th best VFX education internationally by the Rookies.

You can view the Westerdals VFX Student 2020 Showreel here showcasing the work my students produce.

I regularly visit high schools such as Danvik, Fyrstikkalleen, Thor Heyerdal, and Elvebakken to lecture about The Art of Visual Effects.

Building on my experience in teaching and curriculum design, I have developed several bachelor programs at Westerdals, inlcuding:

  • The Bachelor of Visual Effects

  • The Bachelor of Animation

  • The new Animation Specialization in The Bachelor of Computer Arts
    -> launching in Fall 2025
